Welcome to NGNS10

Ryad Mogador Gueliz Hotel, Marrakesh, Morocco, 8-10 July, 2010

Welcome to the second edition of the International Conference on Next Generation Networks and Services (NGNS’10, www.e-ngn.org/ngns10). Next generation networks (NGNs) are nowadays one of the main topics of research and development in the networking arena. The migration towards Next Generation Networks will bring about major changes to network architectures and services:  new protocols, new architectures, etc. NGNs will have a high impact on the future of computing and communications as networks converge and this will allow the deployment of more advanced services.

After the success of the first edition NGNS'09 (www.e-ngn.org/ngns09), NGNS’10 comes to confirm the interest that NGNs enjoy from the research community as well as from the industrial and economic sectors. NGNS’10 has as main objective to report on the state-of-the-art research on next generation networks and services. NGNS´10 is a forum for researchers and practitioners working on the field to share their research results, knowledge and experience and a great opportunity for them to develop fruitful partnerships.

NGNS´10 is organized by the e-NGN research group (www.e-ngn.org) in cooperation with the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques (FST), Settat - Morocco (www.fsts.ac.ma). The conference covers a broad spectrum of topics, including Mobile, Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing and Communications, QoS and Performance Evaluations and Web Based Systems, Technologies and Social issues.

More than 120 abstracts and papers were submitted to NGNS’10. After a strict review process, 27 full and 13 short papers have been accepted for presentation in the conference. A selected number of full papers will be published in the following international journals: International Journal of Mobile Computing and Multimedia Communication (IJMCMC) and IEEE Transactions on Learning Technologies (TLT).

Three distinguished keynote speakers have been invited to deliver lectures on relevant issues of Mobile Multimedia in Next Generation Networks, Reconfiguration Models for Adaptive and Ubiquitous Communication in Layered Services as well as on Dependability, Security and Survivability Models.

We would like to thank the authors for their valuable contributions and the general chairs, track chairs, program committee chairs, organizing committee chairs and the reviewers for their efforts and for the time they spent on the review process of the papers. Our most sincere thanks go to the keynote speakers Dr. Ismail Khalil (Johanes Kepler University Linz, Austria), Dr. Khalil Drira (French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS)) and Dr. Kishor S. Trivedi (Duke University, Durham, NC) for sharing with us their expertise and knowledge.

Special thanks to Professors Abdelali Ider and Abderraouf Hilali, Dean and Vice-Dean of Pedagogy of the FST - Settat - Morocco, and to Professor Radouane Mrabet Director of the National Higher School of Computer Science and Systems Analysis (ENSIAS) - Rabat - Morocco, for their help and support.

We are also grateful to all our partners, namely the IEEE Education and Communications Societies, Hassan I University - Morocco, the National School of Commerce and Management (ENCG) - Settat - Morocco, the National School of Applied Sciences (ENSA), Khouribga - Morocco, Faculty of Sciences - Ain Chock -Casablanca - Morocco, Mohammed V Souissi University, Rabat - Morocco, Algarve University - Portugal, Motorola Morocco, the Hassan II academy of Sciences and Technologies, the International Association of Online Engineering (IAOE), the Euro American Association on Telematics and Information Systems (EATIS.org) for their support.

We would also like to express our gratitude to all the members of the Organizing Committee for their efforts before and during the conference.

We look forward to meeting you all in Tunisia in the next NGNS 2011 conference.
